🌿 CT Invasive Map

Explore the map

This is an interactive map of my real occurrence records and the clusters they form. Toggle the layers and switch between street and satellite views.

Every layer here uses real data: 1,402 georeferenced records from GBIF across northwest and central Connecticut, the Getis-Ord Gi* hotspots computed from them, a monitoring-priority tiering of those clusters, and my four field study sites. Click a point for its species, year, and source; use the layer control at the top-right to turn layers on and off.

There is also an Invasion risk (model) layer, off by default. Turn it on to see the relative invasion risk my random-forest model predicts across the region from six landscape features. It shades low risk in pale yellow and high risk in deep red. Higher predicted risk reflects greater landscape suitability, not certainty that invasion will occur, so treat it as a screening guide for where to look and read it alongside the caveats on the Results page.

The map background loads from the internet, and the data points are built in. The priority tiers come from the real Gi* clusters, not the simulated planning framework, so this whole map really is real data.
